Three Ways to Work With Us

Find the level of support that fits

Every veteran starts with a free conversation. From there you choose whether you want a complete evidence package to lodge yourself, or full advocacy from start to determination.

What Makes Us Different

Why veterans choose COMPASS

01

Clinical evidence at the foundation

Every claim begins with a clinical chart review by trained reviewers using purpose-built tools. We find conditions that may not be on your radar and link them to your service the way DVA needs them linked.

02

Written cost agreements before any work begins

You see your fees in plain English at the very start. No surprises, no obligation to proceed, and a cooling off period is built into every engagement.

03

Two pathways, one standard of care

Whether you lodge yourself with our evidence package or have us manage everything, you get the same clinical rigour. You choose the level of support.

How It Works

From first contact to determination

1

Free Eligibility Check

A chance to ask questions and see if COMPASS is right for you. We talk through your situation, explain how the process works, what our fees look like, and whether we can help. No cost, no obligation.

2

Consultation and Claim Plan

A thorough session covering your conditions, entitlements, and a clear plan for your claim.

3

Evidence Package

The evidence package is built for everything we find. Once you see the full picture, you decide which conditions to claim.

4

Lodgement and Coordination

Your claim is lodged with DVA. We handle correspondence, coordinate diagnostic assessments, and work with your treating doctors on the reports DVA needs.

5

Determination and Beyond

At the permanent impairment stage, we coordinate the assessment process and go through every determination with you before you respond.

What it costs

No guesswork and no surprises. Your fee is agreed in writing before any work starts, and these are the numbers we work to.

The Evidence Package is $750 plus GST, which covers your first two conditions. Additional conditions are $300 plus GST each. You decide which conditions go forward, and you only pay for the ones you claim.

Full Advocacy is protected by two ceilings. Your fee never exceeds 7.5% of the permanent impairment determinations you accept from DVA, and it never exceeds $7,500 plus GST. You pay the lower of the two, nothing upfront, and you are only invoiced after you accept a determination.

Where Advocacy Is Going

The Australian veterans' advocacy sector is going through real reform. The Royal Commission called for better support services for veterans pursuing claims. The Institute of Veterans' Advocates was set up to lift accreditation standards and protect veterans from unqualified providers. From July 2026 the claims system itself becomes simpler under the VETS Act, which harmonises three pieces of legislation into one.

That's the framework we work in.
