Two ways to work with COMPASS

Evidence-based advocacy for current and former ADF members, whether you are still serving, transitioning, or long out of uniform. Both paths start with a free conversation.

Services

What we help with

Initial liability

Connecting your condition to your service. This is the decision everything else depends on, so it needs the right evidence from the start.

Permanent impairment

Documenting the full effect of a condition on your daily life and your work, not just the diagnosis on the file.

Incapacity payments

Where a service condition has reduced your capacity to work, and the earnings and medical evidence needs to show it.

Reviews and appeals

When a decision does not reflect the evidence, including Veterans Review Board matters and preparing what was missing.

Reassessments

When an accepted condition has worsened since it was last assessed and the current rating no longer matches.

Treatment while you wait

You may not have to wait for a decision. Treatment can be available before a claim is accepted, and mental health care without a claim at all.

How it works

From first contact to determination

Lodging yourself? Your completed evidence package and step-by-step guide are ready at step three. You take it from here, and the door stays open if you change your mind.

What makes us different

Why serving and ex-serving members choose COMPASS

Clinical evidence at the foundation

Every claim begins with a clinical chart review by trained reviewers using purpose-built tools. We find conditions that may not be on your radar and link them to your service the way DVA needs them linked.

Written cost agreements before any work begins

You see your fees in plain English at the very start. No surprises, no obligation to proceed, and a cooling off period is built into every engagement.

Two pathways, one standard of care

Whether you lodge yourself with our evidence package or have us manage everything, you get the same clinical rigour. You choose the level of support.

Where advocacy is going

Built for how the system works now

The Australian veterans' advocacy sector is going through real reform. The Royal Commission called for better support for people pursuing claims. The Institute of Veterans' Advocates was set up to lift accreditation standards and protect claimants from unqualified providers. And since 1 July 2026 the claims system itself is simpler under the VETS Act, which harmonises three pieces of legislation into one. That is the framework COMPASS works in.
